PROJECT OVERVIEW 🚀

This is an ongoing term project for ENP161: Human Factors in Product Design. I'm working with two other students to redesign a lifeguard rescue torpedo for two other Tufts students, who are our clients.

By the end of this semester, we hope to have our research and a physical prototype to handoff.

PROBLEM 🎯

There are two most common types of lifeguard rescue torpedoes: hard torps and soft torps.

Hard torps are made of plastic and are used for active rescues. The active victim grabs on and hold on as they are pulled to shore.

Soft torps are made of foam and are used for passive rescues. The tube is wrapped around the passive victim and they are towed back to shore.

Each type of torp has their pros and cons. We're looking to build an optimized version that can handle both passive and active rescues.
